Although the merchandise was shipped from our plant as scheduled, it suffered extensive damage when the carrier assigned to transport it to the airport became involved in a serious traffic accident. I regret to inform you that we will be unable to deliver your order by the date originally promised. However, the damaged merchandise has already been replaced with new merchandise, and you can expect to receive the shipment in approximately one week.

We sincerely apologize for any difficulties this delay may have caused you, and we ask for your continued support in the future.

Dear Mr. Smith:

This is to inform you of a delay in the shipment of the REK-1090 system you ordered on December 8. It was originally scheduled to have been shipped today, however, the truck transporting it was involved in a traffic accident while on its way to the docks. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the freight was not damaged, but this has resulted in our being unable to ship the system today.

We expect that we will be able to ship it tomorrow, and apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused by the late delivery.
